Halloween - The True Stories

Postby Sedinja on Tue Nov 17, 2009 7:55 pm

Hello Florensians ;)

with some delay I proudly present you all Halloween stories the Eventis told during October 31.

Have fun reading!

The Dungeon Master's Light

Now as we are here sitting in Fox Den, I'll tell you the story about the Dungeon Master.
Once, more than 100 years ago, when there was still mining going, there were no monsters in Fox Den. The Dungeon Master was a respectable, young man in Roxbury, known and liked by the villagers. His dangerous job was to enlighten the lanterns in Fox Den every morning and that way he saved many lost adventurers' lifes, because the Fox Den became mysteriously dark after sunrise.

One day the superstitious villagers told the Dungeon Master that the miners, mining the precious ore, had heard horrifying yelling from Moonless Hall, a snarl like the one beasts do. When one of the miners went to find out what causes the awful sound, he just saw two glooming, bloodred eyes in the dark Moonless Hall and they were so huge, so horrendously huge he screamed and ran off with his mates. The miners ran as fast as they could, faster, faster they hurried down the den's labyrinthine path. Suddenly one of the men heard a dreadful screech, one of the miners screams, he screamed for help, screamed in horror - but the men did not dare to turn around and help their mate.

Now they blamed the Dungeon Master he had forgotten to enlighten the Moonless Hall and so a horrifying creature had had the possibility to creep out of darkness and get one of the miners. The dutiful Dungeon Master, knowing he had enlightened the Hall, could not let these accusations rest. He decided to clear everything up and went of to the Fox Den. This night you could hear his cries, even in Roxbury if you locked your doors and shut your ears. He screamed the whole night, then the silence came. For a long time noone dared entering Fox Den. When some adventurers did some years later, the whole den was enlightened. Since then the Moonless Hall is glowing in blue light and the adventurers reported they'd seen the Dungeon Master - but it seemed he'd lost everything that was human.

Sometimes, at midnight, you can still hear him screaming and crying and cursing all villagers of Roxbury.

Bewitched in the Hidden Port

Hiden port long ago was a quiet place full of peace and happiness, it was a magical place where he lived from fishing and the maintenance of fishing boats and where you could get all kinds of cannon for your craft, one day in the morning all fishing ships were preparing to go to sea to their working day when suddenly one of the boats fishing in error to heavy Armored tank. The marine guard pirate base being caught in the nets this ship tried but was too late to save this dying almost instantly since his soul is trapped in the sea, with every passing day the island was changing hidden port is transformed into a dark and terrifying the inhabitants out to sea to plunder any ship that passed near the place, taking hold of the ship, sacrificing the crew, tells the story ever since his soul is still a haunting place terrorizing anyone who dares to reach a hidden port ... ..
The question is do you dare to reach a hidden port?

The Chest of curses

Long ago there was a pirate named Black Morgan, was a famous pirate who was involved in transporting goods at sea, one day Lady Avery contract to deliver a box to the master's port on the island of aron chester.
Lady Avery asked the pirate Black Morgan to surrender in unopened box, that otherwise would receive a curse, the pirate Morgan immediately sailed to the island from chester to deliver the casket in the middle of the journey Morgan was curious to know that was inside the box, and decided to open ignoring the warning he gave Lady avery, to uncover the chest realized it was full of gold coins, with the passing days avery Lady received a letter from the master port where aron said that the chest with gold coins never arrived at its destination at which Lady Avery did not hesitate to enforce the curse of the chest, the pirate Morgan did not stop to count the coins they had under the hood and was happy now pirate was a millionaire, I did not know was that the casket was a curse, after this began to happen very strange things in the boat of the pirate Morgan entire crew disappeared for no reason, and began appearing spectra and the boat turned into a ghost ship with the pirate Morgan.
Since then said that land can only arrive once every 365 days and that day is coming, we do not know is that city of Florensia appear ... these deposed to wait for Morgan and his fearsome pirate crew ... only you know ...

The Ghouls rise

The much awaited night of Halloween had finally come to the world of Florensia. Children were finally ready to go out for getting their candies and then meet to tell stories of terror. But this time, something special was going to happen.
Instead of meeting at the usual place they would meet in the abandoned cemetery in Gloshire Collapese Grave, on the outskirts of the village of Glostern, everyone was nervous but they tried to hide their fear.
The place was so calm that imposed silence. The children began to arrive and sat forming a ring around a lamp that lights only their faces. The oldest one of them, Lionel, Started to tell the legend of the cemetery:
... It is said that in this place were buried in the Halloween night the wicked pirates of Homanil Ocean and from that moment every year on Halloween their souls rise from the grave to haunt those who do not believe in them and instead make fun of them ...
But ... Who is making noises? Is there someone hiding? Said Kenny, the younger brother of Lionel

All were worried, but maybe Mark, the naughtiest one of all children had been concealed for scaring them ... Then they heard the twelve strokes of the peal of the village primary school in the distance...

Children instinctively took their hands!
The flashlight fell off and the wind began to blow! The moon looked bigger and darker!

We must return to our houses, this has ceased to be funny! Said Ash, the most scared kid of the group and then he yelled: Oh my God, what is that?
From the graves strange and distorted figures seemed to float out. They had never seen anything like that. They wanted to run but his legs were hardened by the fear they had.
An evil laugh shook the cemetery! Finally the children could react and they rushed out of that awful place!
When they were safely in their houses they promised not to tell anyone about what they saw, but from that night they never again make fun of those who told stories about the abandoned cemetery.

Avery Dungeon - An untold story

Many years ago Glostern was ruled by Lord Avery, father of our beloved Lady Avery. He was a mysterious man and his family used to live on the so-called Avery’s Big Mansion but as you may have already realised this place isn’t the most suitable place to live. Never had the curiosity to know what happened? Well, I’ll tell you what just some habitants know.
On the last floors of this mansion there is a huge laboratory where some persons were working on an experiment to increase the dark side of noble magic.
At that time, actually, the dangerous experiment that the Lord and the Noble Masquer lead together was impossible without support of the Magistri. Maegner, powerful supporter of the Magistri, was active but he did more than support. He involved to the work of the underground laboratory.
For magic experiments in the underground, Baron was appointed by Maegner as a trustworthy person to be a research manager. That man had great magic power but was pure as a boy. Everybody called him Little Baron and liked him. Among them Lady Rose, having a powerful family origin, was very close to him and people called her Little Rose.
As they researched the extracting of magic essence, they spent much money for jewellery consumption. That money was supported secretly by Lord Avery through the Magistri.
Not everyone agreed with the experiment. Divine Association started to suspect about the purpose of this laboratory and the public opinion was getting worse.
Anyway, the experiment failed and so the underground laboratory needed to be closed in a hurry to prevent the contamination to spread out, but they could not save all the Maids, polluted by the experiments and locked away in there.
However the seal was removed but no one knows who did that. Some think the force of darkness became stronger in that mysterious laboratory and they are still hanging around. Maybe that’s why if you stay quiet and silent you’ll hear sorrows and screams…

------------------------------------------

Nelia & Lady Kinavery

About 40 years ago, in the night of October 31, people say, Alice was born. Her parents, former Lord and Lady Avery, arranged a huge party to celebrate their daughter. They invited the whole inhabitants of Exeter, servants and Lords.
Among them was Nelia, a 13 year-old girl. She’d been living for one year with the Averys’ and enjoyed the life she had as their maid.

During the party, many vine was consumed, laughter and dancing in the big halls and first noone noticed when Lady Kinavery, the Lord’s cousin, took the little Alice out of her bed and took her with her down the stairs of the Avery Mansion – except for Nelia. She followed the Lady and then saw her, holding Alice at her feet, eyes wide opened with a completely mad glance in them. When she took out a small Dagger and Nelia screamed frightenedly, she screamed at her: „Get out! My nice and me want to be alone!“

When Nelia asked the Lady to give her the knife, Lady Kinavery just laughed. “You dont even know what it is like to live like this! The Mansion should have been mine, I should have been Lady Avery, my cousin should have married me and not that disgusting person enjoying my luxury! I cannot forgive him! And now his daughter has to pay for what he has done!"

She laughed stridently, Alice started to cry. Without thinking, Nelia lunged at Lady Kinavery’s hand, reaching for the knife.

Noone could tell how Nelia could reach the knife and ram it into Kinavery’s breast. Some rumors say, a ghost hand had guided her. But Lord Avery thought she had willfully murdered his cousin.

There was no trial. Nelia got executed the next morning. “You’ll see me again, I promise you!”, she screamed, her eyes had a lunatic glance.

The Florensian Chupacabras

Weird rumors are coming from Weedridge... a Guard related that some Boars, including Stink, have been found dead, entirely dry and without any blood, like if something has drunk their blood. It was like a Vampire job.
Lord Lionel immediately sent a messenger to Glostern, to ask Lady Avery if any Vampire had broke out the Mansion, however, fortunately, or unfortunately, all vampires were properly locked there.
The messenger, on his way back to Roxbury, has meet a stranger, running away from Roxbury. He was so scared and said: "I know what is going on WeedRidge, that monster has killed a lot of goats on my country... I won't stay here any longer when this monster is around... it's the so called Chupacabra, and it can even thread humans. Now I say goodbye!"
It seems that Chupacabra is resting after attacking Stink, but we will never know when it will be back threating us...

------------------------------------------

The horrendous love story of Little Baron & Little Rose

Many years ago there was a very smart and beautiful woman known as Lady Rose whose parents where very rich.
She was always with her father and so she visited all the islands and meet lots of interesting persons with amazing stories.
On one of her visits to Exeter, Lady Rose met a young man whose name was Baron.
He was shy but Rose was curious about him.
They became best friends from that moment on and an extraordinary friendship began to rise there.
Everyone used to call him Little Baron because he was a lovely person and so the once before Lady Rose became known as Little Rose.
When her parents discovered what was going on they forbidden Rose to see Baron forever. But nothing was impossible for Little Rose. She knew a secret door on a forgotten room of her house the leaded to the dark Avery’s Big Mansion.
She sent a messenger and set a date with Baron there.
It was night but not like so many others. No one of them paid attention to the date of that day: October 31. No one knows what happened then, or maybe everyone is too afraid to talk about it. We only know that their screams echoed by many days and that neither Rose nor Baron came back.
It's said that place has many blood seeking souls, be careful!

Money Priest

There was once a priest who loved gelt. He traveled from place to place in Florensia looking for gullible civilians who believed that he was able to cure anything. The priest would falsely cure the sick and collect money from these poor folks. He would then run off and disappear before anyone was able to find revenge against him as the citizens’ loved ones eventually died. As the priest’s moneybag grew bigger and bigger, the rumors had already spread throughout Florensia. On the night of October 31st, the priest’s final stop was to Roxbury. Instead of seeing a night with friendly Florensians wearing costumes and out trick-or-treating, everyone was carrying guns, rapiers, flails, pickaxes, spades, and other weapons. The priest was captured and sentenced to death. His body was left to rot at the Cardiff Abandoned Mines. After this event, rumor has said that every Halloween night, those who stays in the mines at night are able to hear the voice of the priest asking whether they want a cure or not.

Edit: here are the stories which have not been translated into English

German:

Doch was genau damit gemeint war, wusste niemand...

Hi!

As written in the news, I am adding the stories I have had translated in french for this event (I will eventually edit this post in order to publish it all).

  • Donjon d'Avery - Une histoire jamais racontée

Thank you!

Thanks for posting! The Dungeon Master's Light, Nelia & Lady Kinavery, Schreie in der Stille, Das steinerne Ei and Halloween temptation were very nice stories! The tragic endings were completely fitting in Halloween stories and I enjoyed that ;)

Some things I noticed:
* The first and last story contradict each other. How do we know which one is true? =P
* Avery Mansion story wasn't really "untold". Most of that is already in Glostern quests.
* The Nelia quest text doesn't fit with the story told here. Also, isn't it so that vampires retain the age they were when they died? She doesn't look 13
* Master used Temptation on a boss! *reports*

Being that they are fictional that could be debated. With Ann Rice that holds true. Another could say that the aging process could stop in a person's early to late 20s. While people would say that body functions have ceased thus the person would not age, what about the brain and the heart. The heart must serve some purpose for it to have a reason for a stake to be driven through it to end the live of a Vampire.

-Translation complete!-
If you find some parts that can be improved please let me know ;)
I changed some lines to make the story "flow" better because the literal translation was... Awful, but still have the same meaning.

Lol, seems like the language team couldn't (or forgot to) translate some words.
Larksdowns not translated because it's a proper name >.>

Epic orthography failure ever... (They wrote "averse" instead of "haberse").

Halloween Temptation

The sweetest island on Florensia holds a dark and dangerous past.

A long time ago, way before the foundation of the noble city of Roxbury, Cardiff's habitants coexist in peace and harmony with the magic creatures of the zone, the Trents lived on the woods full of foxes, boards and lizards. The mudfrogs took sunbaths and fragies lived happily on the swaps and lakes with the boarheads.
Lanoir and his army were allied with the inhabitants during the lethal wars against cruel enemies that threatened the peace of the place time ago, that's why the villagers built a temple in his honor on the most magical spot of the island, a cave today know as Fox Den.
And in Moonless Hall, the nexus of that magical place Lanoir watched for the security of Cardiff and protected Fox Den of any malicious threat.

On an autumn's morning, Halloween day, a spooky ship appeared anchored in the harbor and at the dusk, a man with the face covered by a dense black robe dragging on the ground came out of it. He asked for housing for one night. The town was covered on a festive spirit and the confident villagers welcomed him.

At the midnight a thick fog covered Roxbury, omen of something dark that was about to happen.
The party started, people came out of their homes to visit friends, others went to ask for typical candies and others ventured around the woods and because on that island never happened something disturbing no one suspected that the story of their home place was about to change forever...

Our mysterious man delved into the depths of Larksdowns, that was when a group of Saints saw the man about what seemed to be desperate to find something or get into something and alerted some neighbors who decided to go to investigate.

Many centuries had passed since the last time someone put a step inside the fox den and there were distinguished signals that someone walked into it that night.
Veteran magicians, explorers, mercenaries and saints of the island made their way following the steps marks on the floor until they reached the Moonless Hall...
At the foot of the altar, the man in the black robe was standing giving the back to it, this time with the face uncovered.
Holding a fine and elegant rapier on his right hand and seeing the face of the mysterious man they recognized him as Master, the most powerful magic knight of that time whose thirst for power led him to decimate the island and drag it with him.

Master had prepared a trap ritual for Lanoir and the villagers couldn't help but see how he turned Lanoir his ally using his power and an unknown magic those days.
Master took the control of Lanoir and at the same time the control of all the creatures of the island making them exile the habitants to a small called where they later found the actual Roxbury and all its subsequent history. And that's why today a lot of creatures attack the adventurers that walk around.

With the passage of time a lot of creatures become again peaceful like the boars and some walkers, some explorers claim had face to face encounters with the feared dungeon master and his ally Lanoir... But of course those are legends like the ones Kyra or Ash will tell you in Roxbury, what is sure is that Cardiff island changed forever... To find out the true you will need to investigate around.
